The farmhouse structure houses offices and management operations and includes a ‘corn crib’ clad bathroom block. The barn is connected via a breezeway to the office space. Incorporated into the barn is a large meeting area, sheltered outdoor space for veggie share pick-ups, a commercial kitchen for workshops, the farm managers office, a caretakers’ apartment and a drying loft for winter vegetables. A tractor shed with a 10Kw PV array completes the farmstead. The buildings are four times tighter than required and operable triple pane windows offer extensive daylight and ventilation while keeping heating and cooling costs minimal. Locally sourced and reclaimed wood is used extensively throughout the buildings. Native/edible and water-wise landscaping surrounds the complex.
