This home is sited on a hillside overlooking Teton Valley, Idaho with views southeast to the Teton mountain range. The optimum passive solar and ventilation orientation works well with the views from the site, which is large and protected by the local land trust. The home is designed to blend into the hillside and uses the topography to maintain a low profile. It features a timber-frame structure of reclaimed lumber, reclaimed cedar siding, a living roof, super-insulated envelope, a ground-source heat pump, HRV; and utilizes a Tulikivi masonry heating unit. It also uses environmentally conscious and reclaimed/recycled products on the interior including a 100% recycled content concrete tile/shower surround (Minerva), Paperstone countertops, Lyptus cabinets, Bioshield & Vermont Natural Coatings wood finishes, and zero VOC paints.
